NOSTALGIC MEMORIES
One of my long time friends posted a photo of us in our younger, so called “better”years …
When I first saw the picture, I was overcome with a pleasant feel good wave of emotion; The sweet taste of nostalgic memories.
I looked at myself, the innocent me, oh my Goodness!! I look so much younger!!
It made me think about myself, the younger Estee, beyond the physical appearance.
What kind of a person was I then?? How am I different now?
And then it hit me! Yes, I have definitely aged, my face is not as plump and youthful, my body not as toned, but so what?
What does that mean??
That my stock went down? Perhaps that I’m less than in any way?
I don’t think so!!
I ask all of you women and men, those of you who do not feel comfortable with the idea of “aging gracefully” to consider this:
What’s a few more wrinkles in comparison to the wealth of experience and knowledge we’ve gained over the years?
Doesn’t that go far beyond what we happen to look like??
Besides, there is something special about aging … An inner beauty emerges, one that can never equal any external beauty, no matter how stunning it may be!
